Answers, not a queue.

Everything below is true of Collectly today. If your question isn’t here, the form at the bottom reaches a person, and we reply within one working day.

Scanning
How do I scan a card?

Tap Scan, then photograph the front of the card. The identification comes back in under a second, and variant checks plus pricing finish in the background a moment later. Free accounts get 50 scans a month; Collector Pro and Vendor have no scan limit. Check the result, then add the card to your collection or stock.

What does “we're not sure, confirm the detail” mean?

Some details change a card's price a lot but look almost identical in a photo, like a first edition stamp or a Poké Ball versus Master Ball print. When the scanner can't be certain, it flags the detail with a badge and asks you to pick the right one rather than guessing silently. Confirm it before you add the card, and the price updates to match.

Why does a blurry or unreadable photo still use up a scan, and how do I take a good one?

Every photo you submit runs through the same identification step, so it counts as a scan whether it comes back clear or not — the cost is in reading the photo, not in getting a match. If our own system breaks, that scan is given back automatically; a card we genuinely can't read from your photo is not, which is why capture quality matters. Lay the card flat, fill the frame, use even light, and keep glare off any sleeve or toploader; the app will also warn you before you submit an obviously blurry shot.

How many scans do I get, by plan?

Free accounts get 50 identifications a month. Collector Pro (£7.99/month) and Vendor (£20/month) both remove the limit entirely. The limit only covers new identifications — importing a CSV, editing a card you already own, and everything else in your collection is unmetered on every plan.

Does scanning work on Japanese and Chinese cards?

Yes. Collectly identifies the full English Pokémon catalogue plus Japanese and Chinese sets. More card games may be added later, but not before the Pokémon experience is right.

Prices
Where does the headline price come from?

It's the middle of three readings: sold prices in Europe, sold prices in the US, and the live UK eBay asking price, all refreshed overnight. Using the middle reading rather than any one market alone stops a single unusual listing from setting the number.

Why can a price move a lot in a week?

Prices are rebuilt from real listings and sales every night, so a handful of new sales — or a market that only had a few listings to start with — can shift the number noticeably. That's the market changing, not a mistake in the calculation; a fast-moving chase card genuinely can be worth more or less than it was a week ago.

What do “estimate” and “thin” mean, and why is there no price shown for a card?

Estimate means the price hasn't been checked against a live UK eBay listing yet — it's a reasonable guide from other markets, not a confirmed UK read. A thin reading means very few listings sit behind the number, so it's more likely to move as new ones appear. If a card shows no price at all, there simply aren't enough clean UK listings yet to trust a figure, which is shown honestly as “No reliable UK price yet” rather than a guess.

Are graded and sealed prices sold prices too?

No — graded slabs and sealed product are priced from live UK asking prices, not sold data, because there isn't yet enough graded or sealed sales evidence to build a reliable sold price. Treat a graded or sealed number as what people are currently asking, not a guarantee of what it will sell for.

A price looks wrong to me. What do I do?

Use “Report this price” on the card's page — pick a reason (too high, too low, wrong card, a graded copy priced as raw, or something else) and add a note if you can. A person reads every report, and a price only changes when the evidence does.

Plans and billing
What's included in Free?

Free is a complete tracker, not a trial: unlimited collection, unlimited imports, set tracking, wishlist, catalogue prices, free CSV export and 50 scans a month. Nothing about owning and organising your collection is metered.

What do Collector Pro and Vendor add?

Collector Pro (£7.99/month) removes the scan limit and adds price alerts, full price history and the deal calculator. Vendor (£20/month) includes everything in Pro plus listing to eBay and Shopify, sale sync and bulk tools for people who sell.

How do I upgrade?

Open Settings inside the app and pick a plan under Plan. Payment is handled by Stripe — Collectly never sees or stores your card details.

How do I cancel?

In Settings, open “Manage billing” under your plan — that opens Stripe's billing portal, where you can cancel in a couple of taps, self-serve, any time. Your subscription stays live until the end of the period you've already paid for, then drops to Free. Cancelling never deletes your collection data; only deleting your account does that.

What's the founding member offer?

The first 100 members can lock Collector Pro in for life at £4.99/month instead of £7.99, for as long as spots remain. It's shown on the pricing section of the homepage and in Settings while spots last.

Can I get a refund?

Our terms say subscriptions renew monthly, can be cancelled anytime from Settings, and access continues to the end of the period you've already paid for — beyond that, refunds aren't automatic. Your statutory rights aren't affected. If something specific has gone wrong, email support@collectly.uk and we'll look at it.

Your collection and data
How do I bring my collection over from another app?

Export a CSV from your current tracker, then use Import in Settings or from the Portfolio screen. It's free on every plan and doesn't use any of your scans. Anything ambiguous is flagged for you to check rather than matched to the wrong card.

Can I export my collection?

Yes, any time, on every plan, for free — Settings → Export CSV. There's no lock-in: your data leaves whenever you want it to.

How do I delete my account?

In Settings, under Account, choose Delete account, type DELETE to confirm, then Delete everything. It cancels any live subscription and then permanently removes your collection, listings data and account, immediately — there's no waiting period, and this can't be undone.

What's public on my profile page?

Every account has a public page at collectly.uk/u/yourusername showing your username, display name, bio, join month, collection counts and your highest-value cards. Your collection's total value and individual card prices are private by default and only appear if you switch on “Show collection value” in Settings. You can also hide the page from search engines there.

Trading
What are trade matches?

Collectly compares your wishlist against what other members hold, and your cards against what other members want, then shows you the people it's worth trading with — not just a list of cards. No money moves through Collectly for a trade.

What does the “open to trade offers” switch do?

Off: only your shop stock can be matched. On: a card in your collection also shows to a member whose wishlist holds it, as a card they could trade for. Your wishlist is visible to members who hold those cards either way. It's off by default.

Who can trade?

Trading is for members aged 18 and over.

Why does Collectly ask me to keep everything on the platform?

Never put phone numbers, email addresses, links, PayPal or WhatsApp details into a trade message. That's where trading scams start — once a conversation moves off Collectly there's no record, and no way for us to step in if something goes wrong. Agree the trade here, then post or meet in person; keep the conversation itself on Collectly.

How do I report a problem with a trade?

You have 2 days from receiving a card to report a problem. The other member then has 48 hours to respond, and Collectly makes a decision within 5 working days. Photos are required to support a report.

How are trade disputes decided?

The rulings are fixed in advance so nobody is guessing case by case: silence loses; a card not received after 14 days with tracking goes to the receiver; “not as described” goes to the receiver unless the sender posted photos before shipping; a suspected fake reverses both sides of the trade; two upheld reports against the same member removes them from trading; not showing up to an agreed trade is a visible strike on that member's record.

Can I message another member about a trade yet?

Proposals and messages are being built and will appear directly in Trades. For now, matches show you who's worth trading with; the conversation itself is coming.
